SLPA 2331 - Phonetics

This course is an overview of English phonetics based on the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) and how it is used in speech therapy. This course addresses basic concepts of phonology and the classification of speech sounds and provides practice of auditory discrimination of speech sounds and transcription of typical speech, disordered speech patterns, and dialectal variations.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program, and Reading, Writing, and Math Learning Support, if required. Corequisite(s): SLPA 2110 , SLPA 2113 , SLPA 2330 , SLPA 2332 , and SLPA 2333 .
